NGO participation is now seen as essential for the success of most major United Nations meetings and events. This section is your guide to some of the most important ones. However, the most important NGO participation, usually takes place in meetings and preparatory conferences held long before the major event itself. 16-18 November 2005: WSIS: THE WORLD SUMMIT ON THE INFORMATION SOCIETY, Tunisia

The second phase of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) will take place in Tunis hosted by the Government of Tunisia, from 16 to 18 November 2005. The first phase was held December 10-12 of December in Geneva and addressed a broad range of themes concerning the Information Society and adopted a Declaration of Principles and Plan of Action. - http://www.itu.int/wsis/
